We have been living through a nightmare with our Solar and battery system because our company Sun Power, based in Texas, went out of business. Needless to say that meant no more warrantee but worse of all we could not get any support from many of the companies we called. Our battery was not working and most companies wanted to replace it with their own at double the price of what we paid for it, which was $10,000 +. After countless phone calls, lots of research and 2 service calls we connected with Beene Brothers in Texas. They were quite familiar with Sun Power's bankruptcy and had purchase much of their inventory. Chris at BB talked with my husband nearly 2 hours on the phone (at no charge) while sending pictures to him but still could not get the battery running. He told us to call Kick Electric who he knew worked on Sun Power equipment in California. What a blessing!! They were so helpful on the phone and said they would check our battery out remotely. I couldn't believe it. They got the State of Charge up to 50% but said they would have to send someone for a site visit. Kick is in the Bay area and we are in Thousand Oaks but said it would not be a problem since they have technicians in our are. Once Janvier from Southside Solar arrived he coordinated with Kick and they had the battery working at 100% in less than 2 hours. I highly recommend Kick Electric for all your electrical needs but for people who have been left out in the cold from Sun Power they are the ones who will give you the support you need. I spoke with the owner Nicholas, Bruce and Caroline who were all excellent to deal with and very professional . Although we lost our warrantees knowing we have Kick for support is very comforting. Kick Electric was excellent to work with. When Sunpower went bankrupt with my battery system not working, my local installer abandoned me. I reached out to Kick Electric and they were able to remotely walk me through diagnosing the issue with my battery and replacing the parts to get it working again. They are extremely knowledgeable about Sunpower systems and provided excellent support. I worked with Nick, John, Carla, Katie, and Caroline. They all were great to work with, very responsive, and helped me get my Sunvault working again.
After struggling to get my SunVault backup battery working with a solar system installed by a different company, I reached out to Kick Electric based on strong Yelp and Google reviews—and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Kathy, who answered my initial call, was incredibly knowledgeable about the issue and walked through possible solutions right away. Shortly after, Nick (the owner) followed up, and in no time he and his crew diagnosed the problem, activated the battery, and had it charging from my solar panels. Professional, responsive, and clearly experienced with complex solar + battery integrations. Highly recommend Kick Electric if you're dealing with similar issues.
After being turned away and neglected by eleven solar companies to assist with my sunvault battery backup system over a two month period of non-operating (including the one that has my contract), I was informed about Kick. Recognizing they are in CA and I am located in FL, I figured they'd pawn me off to another company. However, they were able to remote into my system, get the batteries back in full operation, and ease the stresses of not having a backup system with the upcoming hurricane season. Although a costly fix, I am beyond thankful for the time and work they provided and recommended them to everyone.
Much like many of Sunpower Sunvault owners impacted by the bankruptcy, I found myself without hope with a fully drained Sunvault battery not operating. After an extensive search online, I came across Kick Electric that specializes in Sunpower products. Contacted and spoke to Nick on the phone and described my situation and he scheduled one of his guys (Hau) to come out the next week. Hau quickly diagnosed the issue and worked on charging up my Sunvault battery. He ended up having to replace a few parts for the PVC that he carried on hand in his vehicle and recommissioned the whole system to get it working again. Whole process went from 11AM to 3PM, mostly due to time spent charging the battery but everything ended up working. My battery that has been dead for 2 years is back up and running.
