June 2026: As the existing A/C system at our house is over 20 years old, it was time to replace it. I had several A/C suppliers come out and take a look and provide quotes for replacement cost which ranged up to $17,000. However, none of the folks who provided a quote took the time to ask the questions like Rich from Refreshed did. Rich took the time to look at the whole project, then recommended a highly efficient heat pump system that could integrate with our existing gas furnace (replaced two years ago because the old one died!) and combine perfectly with our solar panel system. This means we can effectively cut PG&E and their ridiculous gas pricing out of the equation and power our system with electrical, which, thanks to our solar system looks to make the new system basically free to run. The fact that Rich took the time to explore what would be best for us in the long run was very refreshing ... it's almost like he viewed our project like his own project and put forward the same suggestion he would probably install at his own home. On installation day, Installation Manager Robert sent Manny and Darwin who removed the old A/C system and integrated the new heat pump into our existing system. They did great work, even solving some minor code compliance issues and the result was a completely new and highly efficient system that is now up and running perfectly. If you are in the market for heating and cooling work, you really need to give Refreshed Heating and Cooling a call. They will help answer all your questions, and give you recommendations that meet your needs. Don't be afraid to ask them if there are other alternatives as well ... you might be surprised to learn you don't necessarily have to do a like for like swap (i.e., remove your old air conditioner and install a new air conditioner). As they did for my family, maybe you remove the old A/C system and move to a WAY MORE EFFICIENT heat pump system instead. The photo below is of the new heat pump on the side of our house: it takes up much less space than the old A/C condenser, it runs super quiet (in fact, it's hard to hear!), and again, it is so much more efficient, I anticipate our monthly utility bill will be cut down by 20% to 30% (that remains to be determined, but I am looking forward to seeing the next PG&E bill!

Met Richard Lopez at the home and garden show. He explained the new heat pump heating and cooling system. I was convinced this was the way to go for my home. He also helped find rebates that convinced me to buy the system. After financing was approved, installation was scheduled in a reasonable time. While installation was performed I notice a dent and scratch on one of the panel doors of the heating unit . The supervisor was advised and another door panel was ordered. Also while the installer was working on the return section of the heating section he was attempting to close the return section off to the second floor of my house. This should have been reviewed by the supervisor to the working crew prior to Installation. The system was installed the same day and operational. The crew did a good job of cleaning up and explaining how the new thermostat worked on my phone. I would recommend Refreshed Heating and Cooling to my family and friends.

I received a thorough inspection of my system and a recommendation for a new one. Estimate was done in a timely manner and installation occurred the following week. We had a Bosch mini-split installed in our primary bedroom back in 2018 and it's been working great. Recently my wife has been complaining that it smells when being used. I opened the cover on the indoor unit and found that it was covered in mold. Not knowing what to do about it I called Bosch who gave me the number of a few companies in my area who were certified to work on their equipment. I called all the companies on the list and the one who stood out the most to me was Refreshed Heating and Cooling out of Concord, California. I spoke to Richard (owner) and he was very patient and took the time to explain everything and made me feel at ease due to my previous experiences of hiring contractors over the years. On the day of cleaning my mini-split I had John show up exactly on time with a nice looking vehicle that was wrapped with the companies information and logo on it that gave the overall impression of the company being very professional. I had set up a towel on the floor beneath my mini-split along with a step stool and a garbage can to make things as easy as possible. John placed what looked like a waterproof blanket over the top of my towel to create an even better barrier to make sure my carpet stayed clean which made me feel better about how much pride he takes in his work. Since my unit was so dirty it took quite a bit of time get it clean but when it was finally done it looked like brand new on the inside and all the mold I could see was gone. John also took a container full of compressed nitrogen and blew the coils off while using a towel to capture all the dust that blew off. John seems to take a lot of pride in his work and you can tell he has a lot of experience. When all was said and done we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I did sign a contract to have them come out every 6 months to clean this unit to make sure it never gets this bad again. Breathing mold is not good for you especially in a confined room so hopefully this will never get this bad again. If you have a mini-split I would highly recommend Refreshed Heating and Cooling for all your maintenance needs. We are extremely happy with how things turned out.
