I've used American Plumbing & Drain through AHS twice and have been very pleased both times. Mario was efficient and friendly. The first time was to replace the igniter in my hot water tank and the second was to diganose a stuck main water valve and leaking toilet. All issues were resolved and I even had him stay longer to replace some old supply lines for which I paid out of pocket.

Like other comments, I was also got referred by AHS home warranty. My water heater was broken and Mario was dispatched to inspect and do the replacement. I think he is professional and did his job well. In the inspection, he answered my questions and taught me how to diagnose a water leak issue. In the water heater replacement, he followed the protocols and did his job efficiently. I don’t see any communication issues talking with him. According to my personal experience with him, I think Mario is authentically good and professional. He deserves some encouragement and gratefulness.

This plumber was assigned to me by AHS, too. The technician (sorry, didn't catch his name) arrived on time, replaced the leaky faucet, and left all in about 10 - 15 minutes. I really like how competent, efficient and friendly the guy was! Complete opposite from the other plumber I used before signing up for AHS. That one brought along an apprentice to train. Those 2 were bantering most of the time and I was charged for a sky high price (they probably billed me for the on the job training time).

OMG I can't believe these people are still in the business!!! Not only the owner would come to my house every month, for 3 months, to fix the same problem WITHOUT fixing, the last visit made things even worse where the water in the toilet started to leak endlessly resulting into my water bill going up x5 times!!!! I Called him to again re-do the work, but the guy was extremely rude, not listening to my concerns, interrupting, saying its not his problem any more and using bad words!!! No thanks, never again!! Warning everyone here - do not EVER use this guys services... we are in the 21st century, this is an unacceptable service, his license should be taken away from him for being so unprofessional in doing the actual work and servicing clients!

Like the other negative reviews I found on American Plumbing & Drain of San Mateo, my warranty company assigned this guy Mario to fix some leaks in my house, what a rip off and waste of time, he was rude, seemed to be in a real rush ((he gave me a 4 hours window appointment therefore I specifically asked him to please call me when he was on his way so I could leave work to meet him at the house but he NEVER call me)) he has no manners when talking to people, and wouldn’t stop criticizing the existing plumbing work in the house, asking who did this and who did that, this is wrong and that is wrong, it should be this way and not that way, Mario went on to say that every single house he has done work in East Palo Alto in the last 10 years has “ilegal” plumbing repairs and he went on and on about how people just go to Home Depot and do their own repairs, etc., etc., He was sent to my house just to repair a couple of leaks on the drain pipes and he wanted to replace almost the entire sewage plumbing system in the house just to repair the leaks, he sent the diagnosis / approval request to the warranty company stating that he needed to replace / modify the existing plumbing system in order to fix the leaks at the tune of $3800 this sum was in addition to the actual cost of repairing the leaks, which meant that I would have had to pay $3800 directly to him out of pocket before the warranty company would approve the repairs of the leaks. Of course the warranty company declined his estimate and assigned another plumber, the new contractor that came said nothing about having to modify anything, just looked at leaks and said he would send a request for approval to the warranty company, they approved the repair without me having to pay anything out of pocket. Wondering how many unknowledgeable homeowners would actually fall for this guy’s tactics.
