The service that California Plumbing & Radiant Heating provides is something that every tradesman and company should strive to be. I called the number listed on their page and was directly connected to Gerald (the owner I believe) to schedule a service consultation. I've already had two companies come out before to come out for a hydronic heater that seemingly no-one in the bay had knowledge to service. Over the phone, Gerald went over things that could have gone wrong and provided an in-depth analysis and even agreed to come out without a charge if nothing required work. He arrived ontime, ready to work with equipment and tools in hand and with a courteous and professional attitude. He spent the next 45 minutes diagnosing the air heater and running me through all the things that could go wrong. In the end, he flushed the system and provided an honest opinion that the air handler was working correctly, just that the water heater temperature had to be raised in order to generate hotter air. Gerald was honest, knowledgeable and provided possible next steps to improving heating performance. He stayed true to his word and did not bill me as nothing needed immediate replacement. (I still tipped to cover his time and gas). Should something go wrong with my heater in the future, California Plumbing & Radiant Heating will be the first people I call!
As a relatively new homeowner inheriting a fairly complex hydronic radiant heat system, I've been looking for a plumbing partner. I'd used two other services in the past and while both charged be a bunch and made minor fixes, neither fixed my problems long term. In Gerald, I've found that partner—he was communicative in scheduling (via text), prompt at our appointment, and quickly diagnosed and fixed my problems. I plan to work with him to install upgrades to the system as well. I'm not sure why he doesn't have many reviews on Google yet, but don't let that deter you, he's an expert and a great person to work with.
Gerald was extremely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. Fixed the issue on the first try with my Lochinvar Knight water boiler. After describing the problem to him over the phone, and with some pictures of the unit that I sent, he came prepared with the necessary spare parts. He replaced those parts and did some additional maintenance, always explaining what was going on along the way. I inherited the system from the previous owner, and his explanations were extremely helpful. If you have a problem with your radiant heating, call California Plumbing & Radiant Heating!
