Avoid this business – dishonest practices and unprofessional behavior. I am writing this review to warn others about my recent experience with Rivers Plumbing, Heating and Air. I hired them expecting the professional service they advertise, but the reality was significantly different. The technician (the owner) failed to properly diagnose the issue with my system from the start. He proceeded to order and attempt to install parts that he knew—or should have known—would not resolve the problem. When I questioned this, he attempted to frame his lack of competence as a "favor," claiming he was "giving me a deal" by not charging for the time spent on his own mistakes. Furthermore, the labor process was highly inefficient. He left the job site multiple times during the appointment to run errands and handle personal phone calls, all while racking up hours for work that was ultimately of no consequence to the actual repair. When I raised these concerns and addressed the charges, the situation escalated unacceptably. Instead of resolving the billing dispute professionally, the owner resorted to intimidation tactics within my own home. I was particularly appalled by his attempt to bully my 90-year-old mother, trying to shame her into paying for unnecessary and what I believe to be fraudulent work. I strongly caution anyone looking for a reliable, honest plumber to look elsewhere. This business does not operate in good faith.

They have been so helpful in replacing 2 of our water heaters and one was a tankless! Steve is a very honest man and after seeing the care to detail him and his son Ryan have done I would trust them for any other future project we will have.

Today one elderly gentleman came to help us on a heater issue. I spoke to the scheduler when I fixed the appointment and she agreed that he will check both heater and AC. He reset the thermostat in an irreversible manner and gave irresponsible replies to questions asked and left, and charged us heavily for the service. Very poor customer service and a RIPoff business; lacks integrity…be doubly careful with them…they are only after money…

Rivers plumbing is great. Honest, knowledgeable and affordable, they have provided great service for my family over the years. Rivers is the best in the Tri-Valley area.

I can’t say enough great about this business! I was referred to Rivers over 6 years ago (+-) by a neighbor who has used them much longer than I have and I was very fortunate he did. With all the plumbing and heating businesses in the are it’s a struggle to find a superior business that stays the course of time at such a high standard. I recently had a pretty serious issue with my water heater which possibly been launched to the moon from the noise it was making,, so of course I called Rivers with my concern. My first point of contact was Kimberly who made sure to take the initiative to take immediate action and call the owner, Steve Rivers, with my concern. The first point of contact is very important to me and she was so great to me, even after pointing out the water heater was out of warranty. I also told her our poor financial situation didn’t allow for repair cost and wanted to see if it could be a simple issue. She called me right back and told me Mr. Rivers would call me, and he did right away. He also came out on his own to check out the issue. Long story short, it was an expensive repair that took 3 visits trying to help us out and scouting for used parts ended up buying the new part himself and installing it. Mr. Rivers even went further and wouldn’t let us pay him! I argued and insisted on paying for one of the calls when I received my Social Security the next month. I wanted to do something to mitigate business expenses. I called to make payment, 11/1, and told Kimberly of our agreement, rendered payment and in passing, said how grateful we were to have our hot water especially since our 4 year old washer decided to break 2 days later : ) We hung up and two minutes the owner’s wife, Ann, who runs the office, overheard and refused to take my payment even after stating my agreement with her husband to at least make this small payment! She was as nice and empathetic as her husband! I don’t know of any business, large or small, that would care enough to take all the time and expense from a thriving business to help a senior couple on disability. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to fix the water heater and have any hot water! . Rivers Plumbing deserves this lengthy post and I hope your first call is to this business! Even
