I am a neighbor of a roof that was done by ACE roofing in the Redwood city area. I was very disappointed on the way they performed the work and their work process. My neighbor Dave is a older gentlemen that has a kind heart from my interactions with him. From the beginning they came and totally trashed the sidewalk - nails and debris were flying all over the neighborhood. Through the process there was an Asian oriented man that would come and scream at his workers and be rude to my neighbor Dave which was totally unacceptable and rude. I am a nurse by profession and i was very appalled when one day my landscapers called me to my front yard to tell me a guy got injured by a fall by doing the roof - his head seemed to be bleeding very bad from the injury. The crew seemed to not have any first aid kits or safety procedures to conduct on the person - As time passed my neighbor came out to supply the crew with a first aid kit to stop the bleeding from his head. I did further investigation on the company and it is a total nightmare - There multiple lawsuits from insurance fraud, not paying workers and also homeowners suing for code violations. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY ! I have seen multiple roofing contractors come to try and fix mistakes on a brand new roof. Spend your money elsewhere! Not with them. PS. I had to have my landscaper do a deep cleaning in the front yard/driveway and my backyard and found over 50 nails and a bunch of roofing debris from that project. No one deserves to go through that horrible process specially not an elderly person like my neighbor.

Buyer Double Beware ! I paid full price to replace two small new tile roof and two flat roof. I almost got cheated with just one new tile roof. Jon attempted to just repair the second roof using my old tiles but was caught in the act! So prepare to climb up to the roof to check every step of the process. As shown in the pics. He put metal flashing Just half on my flat roof. It leaks in less than a year. Took many attempts for him to come…the reason, he said he was busy because of so many complaints!!! He eventually came and did a Sloppy job patching up my “supposed”brand new tile roof! I thought he was kind, honest and experienced when I first met him… but he is the exact opposite plus very unprofessional and unresponsive!

ACE roofing worked with us to re-roof our house a few years ago when we decided to put solar panels onto our roof. They took extra care and worked with me to make sure their roofing works together with the solar panel mounts. Communication was a bit tricky at times, but nothing you wouldn't expect while getting a construction job done.

Every other week i get notifications from Ace Roofing to write a good review an always decide to ignore it based on the bad experience I had with John Chong and ACE Roofing. i decided to write a review this time to warn others about this company. I had just remodeled my house and the only thing left was to resurface the roof for my insurance policy to get approved again. I had specifically asked John the owner of ACE if he had experience with knowing what the insurance requirements are and he said " sure I do" . Fast forwarding a little i hired him because suggested to paint the roof to make it look new again. A month later i got a letter from my insurance and they didn't approve the roof system that he had suggested due to the paint not being a waterproof component. First i wasted 7,500 dollars and to top it off on the last day of doing the roofing procedure, he directed his workers to paint my redwood fascia board with a copper green paint when i NEVER told him to do so. the fascia board specifically matched my front door and it got ruined which i also had to pay in order for it to be changed. after my fascia board got painted and ruined he kept harassing me for the last payment after not following the roof requirements and ruining my redwood fascia. based on other reviews on John I should have NEVER hired him and ACE

Buyer Beware! Long overdue review about incompetence and unprofessionalism dating back to January 2018. I hired them to fix 1 leak and gained 4 more leaks. As a result of forgetting to seal several seams on the roof and then leaving it unprotected, it caused multiple leaks in home: * Kitchen floor and counter completely flooded as a result of leaks from 2 different points and warped the counter-top and the wood floor. * Guest bathroom floor flooded and water leaking from ceiling near light fixture. * Door entry to downstairs leaked from two points and warped the wooden floor landing. I wish I had done a better job researching him. I found the following out after the fact: * Two complaints against Ace Roofing from the Contractor's Licensing Board that is posted on their website, one for insurance fraud. * He has a "D" rating on Better Business Bureau . You can find both documents online. * I filed a claim with his insurance after the damage and was denied only to be told that any damage caused by his negligent roofing work will not be covered by his insurance, a clause that was included in his policy as an exclusion. The insurance firm told me "We are not denying liability only coverage." This a roofing company that has insurance that does not cover his roofing work. What is the point of insurance then? John (the owner) sent his guys over to "patch" up the leaky areas twice. But the negligence of his workers had already caused the multiple leaks and created over $28,000 worth of damages in the home. John admitted fault several times and stated that he'd preferred to not to go through insurance and offered me a "credit" of $500 to fix the floor, and $5,000 to do the sheet-rock work in order to settle. Unfortunately, this did not come close to covering the damages of doing the repairs to my home. As it stands today, my kitchen and guest bathroom still have open walls and ceilings. This has been since January 8th, 2018. See my pics to view the damages to my home. 2 attempts were made to resolve this. On the first appt, he didn't show up, and the 2nd appt, he came in shouting profanities. He then threatened to sue me for writing a bad review on Yelp, and then said that he will charge me $1000/week for every week that my Yelp review stays up.
