I am an architect and was connected to Johnny by a mutual structural engineer colleague. I hired Johnny to do a modest renovation to my house in Oakland in 2022/23. The scope of my project was to add a bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room, renovate another bathroom, insulate, update utilities, and add a skylight. I had a tight budget and tight schedule with a baby on the way. In pre-construction, Johnny helped me figure out the scope of the project that would fit my budget and how we could implement it as efficiently as possible. Johnny was very transparent with pricing and approached several subcontractors to find the best options for our project when appropriate. Johnny and his team completed our project on time and worked with me to efficiently address unforeseen conditions in our 1941 house along the way. As an architect, I had a few fussy design details that I cared about and the caliber team pulled them off. The neighbors appreciated how clean and respectful he and his team were.
Johnny is a true professional- one of the best general contractors I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with many. Caliber Construction came in and built our family a beautiful accessory dwelling unit. Johnnys attention to detail is unmatched. I really appreciate that he also has an eye for design, and comes from an art background. I trusted his opinion every step of the way. Johnny and the whole Caliber Construction team are also just nice people to work with, which can’t be underestimated. Getting any kind of construction work done always feels so daunting, but Caliber Construction made it a painless experience. We are thrilled with how the project turned out. Thanks Johnny! I worked with Johnny on a few different projects around our house, including work that required drywall repair, tile work, roofing repair, downspout install, etc. What I appreciate about Johnny is that he’s a problem solver, who will listen to your ideas while also recommending other options that may be a better fit for what you really want. He was always willing to walk me through the whole situation, clarify the work being done, make sure I was comfortable with everything that was happening, and then make adjustments as needed based on our discussions. The team he works with also seems highly skilled, and the tile work that was done on one of our projects was excellent. I would - and likely will - work with him again.
Great job on the tile flooring, the color is so calming and enriched by the redwood decking. Making it portable, keen clean concept.
